Filmtones Transfers was founded by Jason Prufer, an audiovisual archivist, filmmaker, and historian with a passion for preserving motion picture film. Combining professional scanning equipment with archival preservation practices, Filmtones helps families, collectors, and organizations preserve their films in the highest possible quality.

Jason Prufer holds a Master of Library and Information Science with a concentration in archival studies from Kent State University and has more than two decades of experience working in academic libraries. His work as a filmmaker, author, historian, and archival researcher has included contributions to documentary film projects and extensive work with historical photographs, motion picture film, and audiovisual materials.

Filmtones was created to bring that preservation-minded approach to personal, historical, and archival film collections, combining careful handling with professional frame-by-frame scanning and high-quality digital delivery.
